Parts of Nairobi to go without water for 24 hours

Some areas in Nairobi will experience dry taps for 24 hours from Wednesday 6 am to Thursday 6 am.

Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company said the supply will be shut down along Uhuru Highway due to the ongoing construction of the Express Way.

"This will facilitate repair of a major leak on the relocated new water pipelines at Uhuru Highway to enable the release of the road corridor to the expressway road contractor," NCWSC said.

"This work involves installing a line valve for water supply control to the central business area at Uhuru Park."

City Centre, Ngara, Aga Khan Hospital, Limuru Road, University of Nairobi main campus, Coca Cola Factory, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, EPZ-Athi River and Industrial Area will be affected.

Nairobi City Water Managing Director Engineer Nahason Muguna said other areas that will experience dry taps are General Service Unit and Administration Police training schools in Embakasi, Embakasi Village, Tassia 1 and Fedha Estate.

Areas along Jogoo Road including City Stadium, Maringo, Bahati, Buruburu and the surrounding estates will also go without water.

"We appeal to our customers for indulgence and also urge them to use available water sparingly as we work towards restoring the supply," Muguna said.     BY THE STAR
