Kuky began her musical career by performing ciphers and competing in rap competitions.
“Music is something that has been in me since a young age, growing up in a family of boys I was introduced to the likes of Michael Jackson by my elder bro, we grew up listening to a lot of hip-hop both local and international and when I saw femcees such as EVE, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot and Nicki do it I developed an interest in hip-hop and that is how I got into music I would write their lyrics down and rap after them whenever their songs,” she told Citizen Digital.
Starting her musical career in 2017, Kuky had a taste of the unforgiving music industry. Her greatest challenge, she claims, is having the opportunity to be heard not only by close friends and family members but also by others. “There are a lot of gold mines out here; they just need a chance to be heard.”
The journalist-turned-rapper balances her two careers, both of which are flourishing in their own right, but admits to focusing on her new baby, music, which is now on a roll.
She has now released her single Mi Sijali which she worked on with Ricco Beatz on the beat, “As an artist, it is humbling when you get to work with some of the industry’s best, Ricco is more than a producer, he is an absolute gentleman and a professional. I couldn’t have wished for a better producer for my first major release”, she said
Finally, she advises us to keep going, be consistent, disciplined, and put God first. BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
