Aspirant for Nandi Hills MP seat dies in road accident

Nandi Hills parliamentary aspirant Wesley Kibet Kogo died in a road accident in Kangemi, Nairobi, on Thursday.

Kogo met his death just a week before UDA nominations slated for Thursday next week.

Police said he was traveling in a matatu headed for Nairobi when it rammed onto a bus.

Kogo, who was eyeing the UDA party ticket for the Nandi Hills parliamentary seat, was headed for a talk show at KASS FM Radio when the accident happened at about 5.30 am.

Nairobi police traffic boss Joshua Omukata said they are investigating the incident.

“He is the only one who died then. We didn’t know he was the aspirant,” said Omukata.

Officials at UDA said they intend to ask for a postponement of the nomination exercise.

The nomination exercise is scheduled for April 14.     BY THE STAR
