Police are investigating an incident in which a man collapsed and died in an apartment moments after he had checked in with his girlfriend in Kilimani area, Nairobi.

The 40-year-old man had checked into the apartment along Kindaruma Road before a woman believed to be his girlfriend joined him Monday evening.

The woman however ran out screaming minutes later saying he had collapsed and died.

Police visited the scene with paramedics who confirmed he had died and moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Nairobi deputy police boss James Mugera said they are yet to know the cause of the death and an autopsy is planned on the body.

Elsewhere in Vietnam slums, Embakasi, a body of a man was found in his house long after he had died. Police say they do not know the cause of the death and a post mortem exercise is planned to establish that.

And police are looking for a house girl in connection with the death of a six-year-old boy who she was taking care of in Mowlem, Dandora in Nairobi.

The woman is said to have taken the deceased boy to Mama Lucy Hospital with burns and abandoned him there on February 25.

The boy succumbed to the injuries two days later. Police say they are looking for Peris Njeri for questioning over the death.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem exercise.

Meanwhile, two people were Monday evening killed when a vehicle they were riding in plunged into a ditch at Lusaka Roundabout, Nairobi.

The ditch had been dug by workers working on the Nairobi Expressway that is under construction.

Witnesses said the driver and one of his passengers died after their van plunged into the ditch.

This was after he lost its control and there were no boulders to control the plunging. Police say they are investigating the incident.

The bodies were moved to the mortuary while two other people who were also injured in the accident were taken to hospital.      BY THE STAR
