Police are investigating an incident in which a 41-year-old woman was found dead on the steering of her car outside the Carnivore Hotel, Nairobi.
Police said the body of Victoria Nyambura Kamwaro was found in her car with the engine running.
Nairobi deputy police boss James Mugera said she did not have any physical injuries at the time and her body was moved to the mortuary.
The car had stopped near the gate of the hotel for a long time with the engine running prompting officials to check when they found the body.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the death.
“An autopsy will tell what caused the death,” said Mugera.
In Kayole, the body of David Kyalo was found in a lodging. Police said they found some medicine besides the body of the man. The body was moved to the mortuary.
Elsewhere, police are looking for a gang of four who hijacked a truck driver and killed him. They then stole the coffee berries he was transporting from Uganda to Mombasa.
Police said they are looking for the men who abandoned the driver and his 20 feet truck in Mtito Andei along Mombasa Highway on the roadside with the engine running.
Attendants of a shop at the scene said they had noticed the lorry parked there for long. The engine was still running.
The driver’s hands had been tied and mouth sealed with polythene paper at the time the body was found behind the driver’s seat. The driver was identified as John Mutie.
Police suspect the man was alone when he was hijacked by the four men, who locals said they saw alight and leave.
Documents found in the truck showed it crossed the border at Malaba on February 10 and the cargo was headed for Mombasa for export.
Cases of attacks on long-distance drivers have been on the decline due to various measures taken by authorities.
The measures included the move by police to form a squad to profile and pursue the gangs behind the trend.
Police said Thursday a special team is pursuing the gang behind the killing of Mutie. BY THE STAR
