Is a senior politician about to make a major political shift ahead of the August 9 General Election? The political space has been awash with claims of a possible high profile defection that would tilt the political landscape in the country. The announcement is expected to be made this weekend during a highly charged rally in Western Kenya. A section of police officers are lamenting over stagnation in one rank for long without any promotion.  They have been ignored and their pleas to be considered for promotions have fallen of deaf ears. The not-so-senior officers accuse their seniors of being politically correct but messed up by tribalism, which they have extended into the service. The service has no face of Kenya at all levels of leadership and the officers are seeking to have the issue addressed urgently. The situation in the service is so bad at top level where there is serious understaffing while qualified officers are stagnant because of various issues.

Some of the top government officials who resigned from government to pursue political offices in the August election have lost their benefits including bodyguards. One was shocked to go home and find his bodyguard missing and when he called he was informed the officer had been recalled. The man who has been enjoying the privileges protested why he was not informed of the moves. Another one who is seeking to take over as governor is stuck and contemplating to seek further advice to either retire or support someone else after he was informed some clans that had pledged to support him have withdrawn the support. Another aspirant has not been seen since he left office as he is stuck in his house in Nairobi regretting the move.

The recent declaration by a former Mt Kenya governor that he will seek to recapture his seat in August has left his rivals worried and wondering what to do. The incumbent’s worry is that his predecessor is receiving huge support from the voters whenever he makes roadside stops to address them. A group of leaders was overheard at a top hotel in Upper Hill scheming how to create propaganda to taint the ex-governor’s reputation. Corridors is informed this is because they have no option of containing the man during nominations, the politico having formed his own vehicle for the vote.     BY THE STAR
