Deputy President William Ruto’s allies have been kicked out of the leadership of various House committees.

Kajiado South MP Katoo Ole Metito was discharged from the Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations, where he also served as the chairperson.
Maara MP Japhet Kareke Mbiuki was removed from the chairmanship of the Environment and Natural Resources committee.
Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria has also been shown the door from the post of chair Energy committee, whereas Ali Wairo has been removed as chairman of the Regional Integration committee.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi told MPs on Wednesday that the members were allowed to defend themselves before they were removed.
“Having perused the documents through which the Jubilee Party transmitted the decision to discharge the said members, I am satisfied that the process leading to the discharge met the requirements set out in Standing Order 176,” Muturi said.
“This is because each of the six members had been duly notified of intended discharge by the Majority Party Whip through notices dated January 17, 2022, and accorded time to respond.”
He noted that the changes were effective from February 2, 2022.
“I also direct the Clerk to transmit a copy of this communication to each of the six members,” Muturi said. BY THE STAR
