The late DJ Lithium was a gentle soul.
The spinmaster – real name Alex Nderi – did an interview with Amina Abdi Rabar on K24 where he spoke about his rise to the top.
“I’m a music researcher, radio producer and DJ at Capital FM. I love music. I think I have loved it ever since I was in high school. I remember in high school I used to sell music CDs to my classmates for 200 bob.”
The DJ also loved chemistry so much that he coined his name after the chemical element called Lithium.
He continued, “I joined campus but my passion for music was still strong. So I joined the campus radio station called Shine FM at Daystar University. I was a DJ there, I had a show. After campus, I joined Capital FM where I interned for a year and a half.”
He joked, “People still call me intern even if one day I’m the senior manager they will still call me intern. I love working there.”
For one to be a successful DJ, Lithium advised, “Consistency is key. When you are starting out you have to be patient, don’t try to run before you can even crawl.”
DJ Lithium collapsed while at work and was pronounced dead on arrival at Nairobi Hospital. BY MPASHO NEWS
