Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has reshuffled his Cabinet. This comes in less than three months making changes in the Health and Lands departments.

Finance CEC Robert Thuo has been added more responsibilities after he was assigned to head the Health services department in acting capacity following the resignation of Dr Kwai Wanjaria.

Dr Wanjaria was transferred from the Lands department to replace Dr Rachael Kamau who was sent on compulsory leave.

“Despite four successful years Dr Rachael Kamau has done her best… she has left to pursue personal interests and I have accepted her resignation,” Governor Kahiga said.

Ms Beth Karimi, who had also been sent on mandatory leave alongside Dr Kamau, was reinstated to head the Lands, Urbanization and Physical Planning department.

Ms Beatrice Koech was named Lands acting chief officer of lands following the resignation of Ms Hannah Maranga.

Mr Kahiga said that Ms Maranga had been recalled to Kiambu County to serve in the same capacity.

“Her contract ended and she went back to Kiambu,” he said.

The governor maintained that the priority for the lands department was to complete and transfer traders to the new bus terminus.

He assigned the Health Chief officer Adan Adim to co-chair the transition committee alongside Ms Karimi and Ms Koech.

“Mr Adan was very instrumental in the transition and settling in of traders in Karatina and Chaka markets so he will continue working on this to ensure a seamless transfer to the new market,” he said.

Mr Kahiga dismissed allegations that the reshuffle was political. He said that the changes were meant to ensure an improvement on service delivery.    BY DAILY NATION
