Man in Kisii attacks and seriously injures wife, children
A man in Kisii on Sunday attacked his wife and two children with a machete, seriously injuring them, after a domestic disagreement.
The woman, identified as Ednah Kerubo from Nyakoe village, and her two daughters were rushed to the Kisii County Referral Hospital for treatment.
The suspect is reported to have armed himself with a machete and slashed his wife viciously in an incident that has left villagers in shock.
Villages who responded to tehe alarm raised by the woman torched the suspect’s house and destroyed his two motorbikes and other property.
"He was telling her that the children are not his. This woman came here recently. She has not been married for long," said Mr David Ombati, a community policing committee member.
Mr Ombati said the man, who is a boda boda rider, had a quarrel with his wife before attacking her.
"This is his third wife. He keeps on marrying and remarrying. He also attacked his second wife before she abandoned him," said Mr Ombati.
Mr Evans Oiko, a neighbour, said he heard people screaming for help and he rushed to find out what was happening.
"I tried to intervene but I could not do much. I tried to stop villagers from setting the house on fire but they turned against me. But we were able to save two cows, a calf and a pick up," said Mr Oiko.
Kisii County Police Commander Francis Kooli said the suspect is in custody.
“We are holding him at Nyatieko Police Station. We are investigating the incident,” said Mr Kooli. BY DAILY NATION
