Horror as two little brothers allegedly stabbed to death by their mother
Details have emerged on how two children aged two-and-a-half years and three months were killed at their home Kasarani, Nairobi, last Saturday.
The post-mortem showed that the three-month-old Jaldesa Ambonya died from severe bleeding after being stabbed in the chest with a knife.
His elder brother, two-and-a-half-year-old Jayden died of excessive bleeding sustained from a slit throat as well as multiple stab wounds to the chest and back.
The children’s mother, Ms Halima Wako, 30, was arrested by detectives in Kimilili, some 420 kilometres from the crime scene several hours after the killings.
Her husband, Mr Neville Ambonya is still dazed by the bizarre incident. He has deleted every single photograph of him with his wife and the children.
“My wife prepared me some hot milk before I left the house that Saturday morning. As I drank it, Jayden came and asked for milk, I gave him my milk and left him drinking it. I never knew I would never see him alive again. I wish I never went to work that day,” he told the Nation.
Fateful morning
“The last time we talked, she told me that she did not understand what came over her,” he said of his wife.
According to him, they always had their “little marital scuffles”, he said.
On that fateful morning, he left his house in in Maji Mazuri, accompanied by his wife, who locked the gate after he left with his motorbike. He is a boda boda rider ferrying passengers mostly in the area of Kasarani.
This was around seven in the morning. At around 10:30am, the rain became too much and he went back home to fetch an umbrella.
“When I got to the house, I did not see the children, and my wife said they were still asleep. I grew concerned and asked why they were still asleep yet it was almost 11. She assured me they were asleep. I opened the bedroom window and saw them nicely covered with duvets,” the bereft father said.
Lifeless bodies
A customer’s order pinged on his phone and he left. His wife escorted him again and locked the gate after him.
At 2pm, he called his wife to check on the children. Throughout the call, he did not hear them make any single noise, which he found very odd, because Jayden always demanded to talk with his father over the phone.
Mr Ambonya went back home, only to find the house locked. He hired a welder who helped him break down his door and that is when he met the shocking sight. His two children, lying face to face, covered in their warm duvet, but lifeless with their blood heavily soaking the mattress.
“I would never wish such pain on my worst enemy. What I am feeling is unexplainable. My innocent children were brutally murdered by their mother. All I want is justice,” he said.
Kasarani Sub County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo confirmed the killings, saying they tracked and arrested the mother before she got to her destination in Bungoma.
Ms Wako is currently at Kasarani Police Station awaiting her court date after the police requested for 14 more days to investigate the matter when she was presented at Makadara law courts on Tuesday. BY DAILY NATION
