Former US President Barrack Obama has shared a list of his favourite books and 14 movies that he enjoyed watching in 2021.
He posted the lists on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, continuing a 2009 tradition he started while in the White House.
“Art always sustains and nourishes the sou. But for me, music and storytelling felt especially urgent during this pandemic year,” he wrote.
The 13 books encompass several genres, but are all penned by American authors and revolve around the human experience.
The books are;
Obama’s posts also included a list of books he previously recommended in early 2021.
They include: “At Night All Blood Is Black” by David Diop, “Land of Big Numbers” by Te-Ping Chen, “Empire of Pain” by Patrick Radden Keefe.
Others are;
Obama also shared the list of 14 movies he enjoyed watching.
They include; Drive my car, Summer of soul, West Side Story, The power of the Dog, Pig, Passing, The Card Counter, Judas and the Black messiah.
Others are; The worst person in the world, old Henry, the Last Duel, the tragedy of Macbeth, C’mon C’mon and Quo Vadis Aida?
“Each of these films tells a powerful story, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did,” Obama said.
He further asked his followers to recommend any other films and books that he had not read but was interesting.
“Since these are works I have actually listened to, watched, or read, I’m sure I’ve missed some worthy stuff,” he said.
“So if you have your own recommendations to share, I’ll add them to the stack of books and movies I hope to catch up on over the holidays!” BY THE STAR
