Form Four Student Kills Former Lover And Her Child In Saruyot, Uasin Gishu

Grief has struck Saruyot village in Uasin Gishu county after a form four student allegedly murdered his former lover who was a form 3 student and her one year old child before trying to take his own life.

The suspected killer had moved to the victims' village and stayed there for a week trying to reconcile with her lover but her parents were reportedly opposed to the affair.

It is here at this river that Douglas kipchumba is said to have commited the murders of a mother and her child.

The victim and the suspect are said to have been lovers but they parted ways

"Ni form 3 student na huyu form 3 student ako na mtoto ambae ni one and  half years anasoma Saruyot secondary  . Na it happened kwamba huyu kijana amekuwa akija kutafuta huyu msichana huku for the last one week .na mama akamconfront ," Edwin Kemboi, the area assistant chief said.

" Nikafuata huyo mtoto nikaona huyo kijana anafuata mtoto nikamwambia nitapiga yeye watu wakamuokoa, akaniambia huyo mtoto ni wa Charo nikambia yeye sio wake nikamfukukuza," the mother to the deceased told the media on Sunday.

It is alleged that kipchumba had traveled 20 kilometres to Hilda's Village looking for her and trying to convince her that they should be together but she had moved on and had a child with another man.

"Mtoto si wake mwenye ameua huyu msichana alikuwa x boyfriend kwenye alikuwa Biwot secondary.  Na amemfuata mpaka hapa Saruyot , babake mtoto anasoma Ngeria kwa hivyo ni hali ya jealousy anakuja kurevenge," the assistant chief added.

Residents say the suspect lured the unsuspecting girl to the river before killing her and her child.

"Na kijana akamuita hapo mtoni then it happened akamua msichana pamoja na mtoto, akamweka msicha kwa nyasi na  mtoto akamweka  kwa maji na akamuweka jowe kwa kifua," the assistant chief added.

After the murder he is said to have left markings to the places where he dumped the bodies.

He is reported to have gone back to his home after the incident, penned a confession before taking poison.

But as fate would have it, he survived and is now at the Moi teaching and referral hospital receiving treatment.

"Kijana amekila dawa na Tumepata barua amesema amefanya uhalifu, ameua mpenzi wake na mtoto mdogo," the area chief David Kipchomo said       BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
