DCI Probing Kidnapping Of An Ethiopian Businessman In Nairobi
An amateur video taken by a passer-by shows the moment when Samson Teklemichael was picked up by people believed to be police officers.
In the clip a traffic police officer is seen holding the driver's door of Teklemichael's car as two men dragged him out of the car before leading to awaiting Subaru.
Teklemichael can be heard in the video pleading with witnesses at the scene to record his capture.
"He called me and told me he had been abducted by persons he doesnt know and the phone was disconnected and it has been off since then," his wife Milen Mezgebo told the media.
The abductors left his car at the scene along this road in Kileleshwa only for the wife to be informed by a friend that her husband's car had been parked in the middle of the road ... She took the car and reported the matter at Kilimani Police Station ...
"The police say they are still investigating, they're not getting anything then that means we are not safe, we are not safe here ," she added.
Mezgebo who has also reported the matter to the Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya insists that her husband is a reputable businessman who exports gas cylinders to Ethiopia and that he had not expressed fears over his life.
If there is a problem there is a way of law you take that person to court, if they are not happy with that person they deport," she added.
Kilimani Police Commander Andrew Muturi has confirmed that the matter is being investigated by DCI detectives at the station.
The abduction of Teklemichael adds to the growing list of people who have been abducted in the country allegedly by security officers in unclear circumstances with investigations into the cases remaining unresolved.
The family hope that with the intervention of top security officials the businessman will be released or presented in a court of law.
