The Director of Public Prosecutions has closed the file against Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa without preferring any charges against him.
Mwendwa, who was had last week on Monday been released on a Sh4 million cash bail after spending the weekend behind bars, is now a free man.
Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate Wandia Nyamu also ordered the state to refund Mwendwa his cash bail after failing to prefer any charges against the embattled FKF boss, who had been accused of misappropriation of public funds.
Last week on Wednesday, Nyamu ordered the DPP to charge Mwendwa within seven days or close his file.
Nyamu said this after declining an application by the prosecution to detain him for 14 days at Gigiri Police Station pending the ongoing investigations into misuse of public funds worth millions of shillings at the federation. BY DAILY NATION
