Three people were admitted to the Marsabit Referral Hospital with gunshot wounds after an attack on their home in Kiwanja Ndege area on Friday.
The three, a man, a woman and a child were attacked around 4pm by two assailants who escaped on a motorcycle.
Marsabit Deputy County Commissioner David Saruni said security officers are still pursuing the two attackers who escaped towards Dakabaricha area.
“We are doing everything possible to arrest the attackers,” Mr Saruni said.
In the rest past, there has been an increase of deadly attacks in Marsabit town. Most of the attackers use motorcycles to escape. Authorities banned motorcycles from Marsabit town to curb the wave of insecurity.
Om Tuesday, one person was killed and two others injured at Gof Choba area after gunmen ambushed them when their vehicle stalled due to a mechanical problem.
The slain man, a worker with Safaricom, was aboard the vehicle en route to Buluk and Dukana in North Horr Constituency.
About 15 people were aboard the ill-fated vehicle during the incident.
On November 6, an ex-NSIS officer was killed at his home in Kiwanja Ndege by two armed assailants who shot him in the presence of friends and family members.
The attack is believed to have been a retaliation for an earlier incident where six people were shot dead and eleven others injured along Badasa Road on November 4.
At least eight people have lost their lives in the chilling attacks in Saku Constituency, Marsabit County in the last three weeks.
Two weeks ago, the National Council of Churches (NCCK) Marsabit Branch called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to act fast on the resolutions and memorandum submitted to him by the local political and religious leaders at the Kenya School of Government in July 2021.
The NCCK Marsabit Branch Chairperson Bishop Wario Qampicha appealed to the president to save Marsabit before plunging into a genocide like what happened in Rwanda.
“We are saddened that the ethnic cleansing in Marsabit County has adversely affected the region’s economy as most of the investors and experts continue to flee.”
“We wonder why President Uhuru Kenyatta continues to wax up his hears when Marsabit County is sinking into a genocide, “Bishop Qampicha lamented.
Some locals are said to have fled the county to neighboring counties and towns such as Isiolo, Nanyuki and Nairobi.
Schools too are not spared as the learning process in the region is constantly interrupted whenever there is an attack. BY DAILY NATION
