Comedian Eric Omondi shortly denied entrance into the Ngong Racecourse where Nigeria’s Adekunle Gold was the guest artist.
He says he had been blocked from attending the ‘Destination Africa Festival’ for his persistence in having Kenya’s Nyashinski performing last at the live concert.
“My issue is one ‘Nyashinski has to perform last’. I have not come to cause any chaos, I am here to enjoy the event, Adekunle is my friend and I proved it today.
The fight is against poverty, not one another. Am not fighting against Africans, I am fighting for Kenyans. That is why today Nyashinski is performing the last,” Eric Omondi said.
The comedian, who was let into the venue later on persisted on the need to appreciate local talents more than international acts.
“Every event that will be held in Kenya, on the billboards we will have a big image of the Kenyan artist and a small one of the guest artist. We want equal pay, equal and fair treatment,” he said.
Eric Omondi said he called Nyashinski while at the gate, told him not to perform if he is not the last one.
Eric Omondi vowed to keep Kenyan artists on their toes, to make sure that they get the recognition they deserve. BY MPASHO NEWS
