A team of officers investigating allegations of high handedness and nepotism at a government ministry were thunderstruck with the kind of treatment they received. The head of a department is said to have told the officers that they were too junior to question his competence and that their mission was an exercise in futility. The official is said to have bragged about being untouchable because he is well connected in the corridors of power. And when he was asked why he had employed and promoted so many people from his community, the official said they were all qualified and competent. Those aware of the happenings now want the Public Service Commission to look into the matter.

A first term female legislator could soon face the wrath of her colleagues after they learnt of her illicit affair with a top official that has seen her in most, if not all, foreign trips in the last one year. The woman, an articulate debater, is said to have been receiving special treatment in the House. In some cases, she attends trips of nearly all committees, including those where she is not a member. The revelations have angered her colleagues, especially after one of them was recently dropped from a recent trip in order to accommodate her. They are now threatening to expose her affair.

A female diplomat in one of the Kenyan missions abroad could be planning to join politics. Sources whispered to Corridors that the woman has been on the radar of the National Intelligence Service for using her position to get goodies for her political godfather, including political funding. The scrutiny on her activities began around the Covid-19 pandemic when some donations were allegedly diverted to political activities. Those in the know say the woman has been courting the big man so that she is handed a nomination certificate with ease.

A politician from Nyanza shocked his colleagues when he vowed to decline an appointment to a less prestigious board. The politician remained firm that the appointment was a ‘small’ matter that he may not take seriously as he schemes for a parliamentary election next year. In one of his terse WhatsApp responses to an inquiry from one of the group members, the politician retorted that his focus is on next year’s general election. It is said that the politician is a bitter man after falling out with an influential Cabinet Secretary who backed his 2017 parliamentary bid but in vain. Will the CS who named him to the board rescind the appointment now that the politician has joined a political camp that opposes the ruling Jubilee administration?   BY THE STAR
