An autopsy on the body of athlete Agnes Tirop is currently taking place at the Iten County Referral hospital today.
A team of pathologists have arrived at the hospital to perform the autopsy before the body is released to her parents for burial at their home in Nandi County on Saturday.
Tirop was found dead in her house near Iten town last week with a stab wound on the neck.
Police and the family decided to conduct the autopsy at the Iten hospital and not at the Moi Referral Hospital as had been planned earlier.
Her estranged husband is in police custody as homicide officers complete investigations into the death of the athlete.
Ibrahim Rotich appeared before senior principal magistrate Charles Kutwa on Monday but he did not take a plea.
A psychiatric assessment was ordered before he can enter a plea.
Rotich will be held for 20 more days to hold him in custody so investigations are completed.
Rotich fled and was arrested by police in Mombasa after his car was involved in an accident during curfew hours. He is being detained at Eldoret police station.
The case will be mentioned on November 9 for further orders.
He was whisked away DCI officers immediately after the orders were made.
The prosecution told the court that police detectives are yet to complete investigations and hope to apprehend more suspects linked to the murder. BY THE STAR
