Will DP kiss and make up with fierce Rift opponent?
Has Deputy President William Ruto advised his foot soldiers against attacking his fierce critic and political opponent from his Rift Valley backyard? This seems to be the case. The DP’s men have lately toned down their attacks on the man seen to be his biggest threat to galvanise the region behind him ahead of 2022. Recently, an MP disclosed to Corridors they have been ordered to go slow on the politician. Though he did not say much more, he hinted a political reunion could be in the offing ahead of the high-stakes polls.
An MCA from Western region is nursing serious injuries after he was beaten in a woman's house in a popular estate within a Lakeside city. The MCA sustained serious injuries to his mouth and those close to him said he could have been struck with a hammer. A colleague who had accompanied the MCA fled after he was cornered. The ward rep who now lowers his head and wears a cap to hide his injuries, is unable to eat meat and even sipping his favourite soup is difficult, close friends say. One of the attackers is said to be dating the woman in question. The lawmaker, however, claims the woman is his wife. Close sources say she has other men. Another MCA from another county in the same region has also been salivating over the same woman.
A ‘gifts voyage’ to a popular residence has elicited sharp divisions in the camp of a senior politician as his allies debate whether the donations are doing the man any justice. The politician has of late been popular with the four-legged gifts but many in his camp think this is slowly turning into a national embarrassment. Their argument is that gifting is good, but insisting on a photo-op as some of those who deliver their portions, is a big no. Corridors overhead the grumblers say it was time the man’s handlers reviewed the events before it gives rise to a massive political backlash.
Residents of a county in Eastern are wondering what became of the bad blood between their governor and MCAs. Months ago, the ward reps and the county boss could not see eye to eye and the ward reps had even planned to impeach the governor. But lately, there has been a trend whereby the MCAs accompany the county boss in almost all official functions. A local told Corridors that when giving speeches, the MCAs heap praise on the executive for exemplary service delivery. The matter has triggered talk on what could have informed the sudden warmth.
