Mr. Ndambuki embarked on the ambitious project earlier this year and has so far made and sold six machines to some bar owners within Makueni.

The innovation allows patrons to clean  their own glasses and sanitize before proceeding to the vending machine where they get booze at various pricing points.

The innovator says the machine takes him two weeks to assemble and retails for Ksh.2,000 provided the client provides the materials.

Materials may include iron sheets and other minor parts.

Mr. Ndambuki believes his innovation which eliminates the need for customer-bar-tender mingling is the key to solving the coronavirus conundrum.

Since customers pay at the machine, they can leave bars  at their own discretion without contact with the bar attendants.

One of the machines dispenses beer worth Ksh.10 while a second one dispenses alcohol worth Ksh.30.

Patrons drink at their discretion and only spend what they have since they cannot receive any alcohol without paying for it first.

Locals awed by the invention have called on the government to adopt such home grown innovations especially during the pandemic that have brought the world to a standstill.
