Kenya’s virus cases jump to 41,158 after 538 new cases

Kenya on Saturday recorded 538 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to to 41,158.

This is out of a sample size of 6,872 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative tests to 586,911.

From the cases, 496 are Kenyans and 42 are foreigners. In terms of gender, 430 are males and 108 are females.

Age wise, the youngest is a one-year-old infant while the oldest is 85.

61 people have today recovered from the disease, with 40 from the Home- Based Care Program, while 21 have been discharged from various hospitals. This now brings the total number of recoveries to  30,937.

However, the country has lost five more patients to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 760.

Distribution of the cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 157, Bungoma 118, Nakuru 48, Turkana 41, Mombasa 33, Kilifi 31, Uasin Gishu 16, Kisumu 13, Kisii 12, Meru 12, Garissa and Trans Nzoia nine.

Others are Narok and Kiambu eight, Kakamega six, Isiolo four, Kwale three, Nyamira, Kitui and Migori two cases each, while Busia, Elgeyo Marakwet and Marsabit have one case each.
