The Council of governors wants the Controller of Budget to disburse money to the counties for uninterrupted service delivery.
Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya said the funds for the 2020/21 financial year were yet to be disbursed three months into the fiscal year.
Oparanya in a letter to the Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o on Thursday said quick action should be taken.
The letter addressed to Nyakang’o was copied to Treasury CS Ukur Yatani and Attorney General Kihara Kariuki.
In March, Oparanya faulted the Controller of Budget for withholding counties’ money hence frustrating efforts to fight the spread of coronavirus.
“Counties are experiencing a delay in approval and release of funds. Please note that at this time of emergency your office needs to be responsive not only to the law and procedure but alive to the emergency at hand,” Oparanya said.
“We kindly urge you to release the fund to the counties to enable them to respond to the prevailing situation. please treat this with the utmost emergency that it deserves.”
