September 4 marked exactly two years since Sharon Otieno was brutally murdered.
Sharon, who was a Rongo University student was seven months pregnant when she was stabbed eight times to death and her body thrown in Kodera forest in Homabay County. She left behind three kids aged five, four and two.

On 4, her family and friends celebrated her anniversary at her parents’home. They were all wearing black T-shirts with Sharon’s photo ïnscribed “Justice for Sharon”.
The gruesome murder of Sharon was in the headlines for a few months and Migori Governor Obado Okoth and his co-accused Caspal Obiero and Michael Oyamo were charged with Sharon’s murder. Obado was released on a Sh5 million bond.
Speaking at the event, Melida Auma, Sharon’s mother said,
ALL WE WANT IS JUSTICE FOR OUR DAUGHTER. THE EVENT TODAY WAS SIMPLY TO CALL FOR JUSTICE FOR SHARON.

Apart from Sharon, other young women who were brutally murdered are; Ivy Wangeci, Monica Kimani, Elizabeth Keziah, and Mary Wambui (Kori’s wife).
Sharon was 26 and a second-year student at Rongo University, Migori county pursuing a degree in Medical Records and Information.
An autopsy revealed the university student, 26, was tortured, stabbed eight times, mutilated and raped. Her seven-month-old foetus was killed as one stab wound extended all the way to her spine.
