CS Kagwe seen among those disregarding Covid-19 guidelines

The picture of Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe amidst a group of people, observably flouting covid-19 rules has had tongues wagging on Twitter.

In the picture of eight people, which was taken in some room, the CS is seen holding his mask in his hand, while the rest do not have any masks with them.

There was also no social distancing being observed, among the members who were smiling, posing for the cameras.

In the room are several bottles of wine, juice, and other drinks. The table, covered with flowers, also has some glasses half full with drinks, depicting a scene of a house party.

So, is the anti-coronavirus crusader betraying Kenyans, by telling them to observe the rules, while he is in the forefront, or among those violating the rules?

As usual, irate Kenyans, went to vent their anger on the issue, setting Twitter ablaze with comments, majorly disparaging the Health CS for disobeying the guidelines given by the ministry that he leads.

“Mr. “You can gerrit. I can gerrit” attending a function, no social distancing, no masks. You can see him holding his mask…,” tweeted one by the name Wanjiku Revolution.

“Ati which Kenyans are careless? Waziri preaches Pick-n-Peel but drinks Southern Comfort comfortably. Awuoro!” tweeted Robert Alai, a blogger.

“We are fighting Corona and we are all vulnerable and are subject to those social temptations regardless of our societal status. Let the policymakers be, “said one David Njoroge.

However, some came on CS Kagwe’s defense, saying it was justifiable for him not to have a mask on, while posing for the picture.

Others asked why the rest of the members did not have their masks even at least near them as they posed for the pictures.

“You know the difference ni nini, they have probably all been tested and found to be negative, and they probably have all the medical setups in their homes, so do the same at your own risk, “tweeted another one.

The CS has recently, been put on the spot, after his son, Kahumburu Mutahi, was also seen partying with utter disregard to Covid-19 guidelines.

However, CS Kagwe brushed off the issue, terming all his children grownups, moving on quickly to the next question.

“On the issue of the video footage showing my son at a party, I don’t have a son under 18 (years) in my house, meaning they are adults, you can follow them and ask them,” said Kagwe who seemed irked by the question.

The Cabinet Secretary also ruled out the idea of resigning, due to numerous questions over the government’s expenditure on Covid-19.

“The issue of people asking me to resign is a pipe dream. They can continue dreaming on,” he said.
