President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the country at 3pm on Monday in regards to the Covid-19 status in the country shortly after concluding a meeting with governors.
In the fifth extraordinary session of the National and County governments Co-ordinating Summit programme seen by the Star, the meeting will kick-off at 11am with a Statutory Citation by the Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa.
The President will thereafter give his opening remarks after which the Council of Governors Chair Wycliffe Oparanya will give a status update on counties State of preparedness on Covid-19.
At around 11.50 am, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe will give a brief on the Covid-19 situation in the country, considering the disease situation 21 days after lifting the cessation of movement restrictions.
He will also consider a report from the National Command Centre on how Covid-19 may propagate in the months of August and September, 2020.
This session will have a presentation from the team of medical experts from the National Emergency Response Committee.
Later on at around 12.30pm Education CS George Magoha will give a brief on the status of the education sector.
This will be followed by a brief by the chairperson of the Inter-Faith Council on resumption of congregational worship.
During the meeting, there will also be a Plenary Session mediated by Oparanya.
At around 1.25 pm, the President will discuss the adoption of the summit resolutions.
After a brief interlude, Uhuru will then make his Tenth State Address on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Last week, Uhuru accepted a request from the Council of Governors to reschedule the Extra-Ordinary Summit that was to be held on Friday to discuss the coronavirus containment measures.
The pandemic that has claimed more than 200 lives in the country since its outbreak on March 13, 2020.
Some county chiefs had indicated they will implore the President to re-impose the lockdown if the alarming pace of the pandemic continues.
Forty-four out of the 47 counties have reported Covid-19 cases. Only Baringo, West Pokot and Samburu have not confirmed any cases.
