Fifteen Kenyan truck drivers have been blocked from entering Uganda due to Covid-19.
The 15 tested positive on the Busia, Malaba boarder and were not allowed to enter Uganda.
The 15 are part of 19 foreign truck drivers – 15 Kenyans, 2 Congolese and Two Tanzanians- that tested positive at the boarder points of entry.
“Their entry into Uganda was not permitted,” a statement from Ugandan authorities read in part on Wednesday.
Ugandan authorities said the results of Covid-19 tests done on July 14, 2020 confirmed three new cases.
Of the three cases, two are Uganda truck drivers who arrived from Kenya via Busia boarders while one is an alert from Kampala.
The cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to date is 1,043.
In May, Uganda’s health minister revised downwards the country’s total number of coronavirus cases following President Yoweri Museveni’s directive to expunge all foreign drivers from the tally.
Jane Aceng said the count of all infected foreign lorry drivers would be added to their respective countries.
