Controversial Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino seems unbothered by calls for justice for Felix Orinda, alias DJ under the hashtag #JusticeForDjEvolve.
In a tweet, the politician claimed that in politics, negative publicity is still good publicity.
“In politics publicity is publicity. Negative publicity is extremely good publicity,” he tweeted.

In January this year, a video emerged of the politician opening fire on DJ Evolve neck at the popular B-Club in Kilimani, Nairobi. Owino was arrested and arraigned in court following the shooting incident that left Orinda in a hospital bed for months. He pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and disorderly behaviour while carrying a firearm and was freed on a cash bail of Sh5 million.
During a recent interview, Babu Owino said that the DJ had been discharged and was waiting to be taken home. He also clarified that he had been paying hospital bills, contrary to reports doing rounds on social media.
“We are in communication. And what I must say is that there is no saint without a past. Two, I would not like to dwell on my past so much, because I can’t change my past, but I can change my future,” he said.
The incident has been haunting the politician for months now even though he claims to have done everything possible to make things right.

“Every other thing that happened is between me and God, and I choose to forgive myself. This matter is before a court of law, so as Babu Owino on humanitarian or morals grounds, I did agree to settle the bill. So I settled the bills just as a friend. He is a very good friend of mine and no man or woman should come between us.”
In another Interview with K24’s Anne Kiguta, Babu could not contain his anger when asked whether he should still be in office after the incident.
“What I would like to tell you is that it’s a matter before the court of law and it’s sub judice. Number two, you have no moral yardstick to measure morality,” an infuriated Babu responded.
