One arrested as cops bust forgery ring in Nairobi CBD
DCI detectives have arrested a suspect behind a forgery in the Nairobi CBD.
Joel Machoka Muchoma was arrested by DCI sleuths based in Kamukunji at his Stall no. 22, Mfangano Trade Centre for forgery and making of documents without authority.
The raid led to the recovery of 13 different ink stamps, stamp seals, two computers and several suspected forged documents.
Forged documents recovered includes four cheque books for different financial institutions, four certificates of registration of motor vehicles, five certificates of birth and an international certificate of vaccination.
The police confiscated the ink stamps for Equity Bank and Cooperative Banks.
The police said the operation is part of the series of operations being undertaken to curb con practices across the country.
In February, police carried out a similar operation in Ngara, Nairobi and arrested two people suspected of hacking into the National Transport and Safety Authority database and TIMS system
Among those arrested was NTSA employee Antony Korir 33, who police say was assisting the hackers to access the authority's network.
The raid was carried out following a tip-off from the members of the public.
