Tanzanian songbird Faustina Charles Mfinaga alias Nandy has denied claims gaining steam on social media that her engagement to rapper William ‘Billnass’ Lyimo was staged.
Speaking to Global Publishers, Nandy rubbished the reports as hogwash and shrugged aside claims that Billnass’ proposal was a marketing gimmick for their upcoming projects.
Confirming that they are truly engaged, Nandy noted that the proposal, aired live and executed on stage midway through her performance, also caught her by surprise.

She added that despite hiding their love life, she has over the years consistently said she intends to settle down.
Down on one knee during Tanzania’s TVE, Billnass affirmed his love for Nandy before slipping a ring on her finger, saying it was about time they formalized their relationship.
“We’ve been together ka kipindi kirefu sana tumepitia vitu vingi vizuri na vibaya. Najua upande wako mbaya, najua upande wako mzuri but nimechagua pande zote mbili nakupena sana na ninatamani dunia nzima ijue so leo itakuwa siku nzuri sana kupropose. I love you,” said the rapper.
A message that resonated with the singer who days later via Instagram confessed her undying love for her college sweetheart.
“Kwanza happy belated birthday mchumba wangu mpenzi!!
Officicially William fiancé,” wrote Nandy of the magical moment.
They are currently riding high with their 2019 hit Bugana, a masterstroke after years apart, accusations and counter-accusations, denial of their relationship and reunion following the death of media mogul Ruge Mutahaba.
