RMS Chairman S.K. Macharia mourns retired Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a’ Nzeki
Royal Media Services Chairman S.K. Macharia has expressed fhis grief following the death of retired Catholic Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a’ Nzeki.
In a statement on Tuesday, the media mogul said he had known the late Mwana a’ Nzeki for many years and greatly admired his life.
“Throughout his life, he distinguished himself as a brave voice of truth and justice even at some of the most difficult periods in our country’s history. His contribution to the Second Liberation struggle will be remembered for generations to come,” Dr. Macharia said.
He further averred that the Catholic Church and Kenya at large have lost a tireless fighter for human dignity, social justice and freedom.
“On behalf of myself, my family and the Royal Media Services fraternity I mourn his passing and send my deepest condolences to the family, friends and the Catholic Church at large. May his soul rest in peace,” Dr. Macharia said.
Retired Catholic Archbishop Raphael Ndingi Mwana ‘a Nzeki died on Monday night after a long illness.
He is said to have been taken ill at the Archdiocesan Clergy home where he was residing and was rushed to Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Earlier, President Uhuru Kenyatta sent a message of condolence to the family, friends and the Catholic Church.
He described the deceased as a Kenyan icon, a bastion of peace and a man of true faith who answered his lifelong calling as minister of the gospel and a shepherd of mankind.
“Since his ordination as a priest in 1961, His Grace Ndingi Mwana a’Nzeki faithfully served the Catholic Church with distinction and never compromised his calling even at the most trying and challenging times in the history of our country,” the President said.
The Head of State also noted that the late Archbishop dedicated himself to the protection of the weak and the fight for justice, and never shied away from doing the right thing, and in doing so, he distinguished himself as a servant leader and role model.
On his part, ODM leader Raila Odinga said the retired Archbishop was one of the brightest lights to have graced the nation.

“Kenyans knew they could always count on him to stand and speak out for truth and justice whatever the threat that posed to his life. As a country we will miss his distinguished service and dedication to humanity,” Mr. Odinga said.
