Police in Nakuru town are investigating a new wave of MPesa fraud after two agents were conned in a span of two days.
Nevian Moraa who operates a shop in the CBD lost Ksh. 22,000.
According to him, a man approached him pretending to be a customer who wanted to deposit Ksh. 100.
After he had completed the transaction, the customer claimed that the money had not been sent.
The man further claimed that he had contacted the customer care department and they had confirmed that the transaction did not go through.
It is not clear how the man managed to get the agent to transact the Ksh. 22,000 without actually depositing it.
Police are using CCTV footage from one of the shops to try and unearth what happened.
