A four-year-old girl was defiled, killed and her body dumped in a coffee plantation in Kirinyaga County.

Stacy Nyakio’s body, found on Monday morning, had bruises on her neck, an indication that she might have been strangled.

Last year, the victim’s uncle, Laurence Murimi, was also killed and his body dumped in a coffee factory.

The family links the murder to a protracted land dispute.

The body of the missing girl on Sunday night, a few meters from her parents’ house in the village of Gacigoini.

According to her mother, Ms. Jackline Wawira, she sent her daughter to a nearby shop to buy wheat flour and cook fat.

“I sent my daughter to the shop but she never returned home. When she failed to show up, we looked for her all night but this morning (Monday) we found her body on the farm,” Ms Wawira said.

The flour and cooking fat that the victim had bought was found at the murder scene.

When the news of the gruesome murder shocked residents who rushed to the scene.

The girl’s grandmother, Agnes Wanjiru said that she learned of her grandchild’s death with shock.

He said the family of the deceased had been involved in a land dispute with other family members.

“The possibility of the child was eliminated due to land disputes,” he said.

Ngariama Ward representative Erastus Ireri condemned the killing and asked police to investigate the incident.

Regional head Patrick Muriithi said police were chasing the killers.

“The police have begun an investigation into this matter,” he said.

Police boss acting East Kirinyaga Alfred Ng’eno asked the family to be patient when detectives chase the perpetrators.
