Kariobangi Sharks claimed the bragging rights in the Slum derby after a 3-2 win over Mathare United in their SportPesa Premier League match at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Wednesday.
Eric Kapaito and Duke Abuya gave Sharks at 2-0 lead at the break before Clifford Alwanga pulled one back for Mathare two minutes after the restart. Vincent Wasambo restored Sharks' two goal-lead after racing past Owiny to score into an empty net.
Cliff Nyakeya scored Mathare's second goal from the spot in 72nd minute, but Sharks held on for the three points.
The result leaves Mathare fourth with 46 points. The win was Sharks' first after 11 matches and sees them halt a poor run of results that have seen them stagnate in mid-table.
They are currently placed 10th on the standings and travel to Sony Sugar in their next match.
