KTN actor Jamal Nassul Gadafi was subjected to an extremely painful death that was followed by complete pandemonium.
His killing led to premature ending of a party that was going on at Arks Hotel in Mlolongo, Machakos County on Tuesday evening.
Thirty nine-year-old Mr. Gadafi, who played the role of a father to a young boy named Junior on KTN’s local drama series “Junior”, was stabbed in the chest using a kitchen knife by his alleged lover Grace Kanamu Namulo aged 40.
The couple, who had attended a soiree at the Arks Hotel a few hours to 6pm on Tuesday, quarreled over reasons police are yet to reveal.
Mr Gadafi and Ms Namulo left the party and went to a butcher shop, which is located a few meters from the restaurant, where they were having a meal and drinks.
“They wanted somewhere quieter to solve their issues,” according to a source, who spoke in confidence to EDAILY.
The butcher shop, where they went to, is allegedly owned by Mr Gadafi. Unconfirmed claims suggest Ms Namulo owns shares to the meat shop, which is located near Arks Hotel.
Their arrival at the butcher shop was timed at around 6pm.
The pair continued to argue, a wrangle which was succeeded by a fatal stabbing of the former “Vioja Mahakamani” actor.
Ms Namulo allegedly drove “quite a long kitchen knife” into the chest of Mr Gadafi. She had grabbed the weapon from the butcher shop. The killing, according to police, took place at exactly 6:15pm.
Upon being stabbed in the chest, Mr Gadafi fell to the ground with a sickening thud, which triggered panic in the suspect, who burst out in screams.
Mr Gadafi’s chest – at that time – gushed blood where the knife had gone.
“It [blood] was just too much,” says Musyi FM journalist Douglas Mutiso, who was privy to the chronological events that preceded and succeeded Ms Gadafi’s death.
Ms Namulo’s screams caught the attention of revelers at the Arks Hotel, who rushed to the scene.
“They [party-goers] wanted to lynch her, but security guards at the hotel managed to whisk her to safety. The suspect was locked in a room in the hotel before police from Mlolongo post were alerted,” says Mr Mutiso.
Merrymaking at the Arks Hotel, consequently, came to a premature end following news about Mr Gadafi’s death.
Journalist Mutiso says Mr Gadafi’s elder brother and wife arrived at the scene a few minutes later and, while frantic, carried Mr Gadafi into a waiting car and rushed him to Shalom Hospital in Mlolongo, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mr Mutiso says Ms Namulo’s children, who are in their late teens, arrived at the Arks Hotel in a matter of tens of minutes and requested to see their mother, a wish the security guards at the restaurant granted them.
Around half an hour later, police arrived at the scene of crime and arrested Ms Namulo. Her children accompanied her to the post.
Ms Namulo, police confirmed, was later transferred to Mavoko Police Station, which is located nearly 4 kilometers from Mlolongo post. It is at Mavoko, where she recorded her statement.
The suspect is still detained at the police post as investigations into the actor’s death continue.
Athi River OCPD Sharma Wario confirmed the incident.
EDAILY reached Mr Wario for comment – on what led to the fatal fight between Mr Gadafi and Ms Namulo –, but he said he could not speak at the time because he was “still at a Jamhuri Day function in Machakos”.
Sources, who hanged out, dined and drank with Mr Gadafi, a resident of Syokimau, claimed the actor was in a “relationship” with Ms Namulo, and – of late –, the pair was undergoing a turbulent phase in their affair.
“They had known each other for long, and we would hang out with them quite often. Of late, the two were constantly wrangling, and had even threatened to harm each other at some point,” said a source, who sought anonymity.
Jamal acted in number of Kenyan local drama programmes including KBC’s “Vioja Mahakamani”, KTN’s “Junior”, NTV’s “Auntie Boss” among other film productions.
