Siaya County government has announced plans to spend Ksh.80 million to supply clean water in the lower parts of Central Alego,West Alego and Usonga wards.
According to the County Executive Committee Member for water Adrian Ouma, the tender for the project is almost done and will be advertised soon.
Speaking at Obambo health center in Central Alego ward during the launch of the Obambo water project, Ouma said that the project was a part of the devolved government’s commitment to ensure that residents had access to clean and safe water.
“The County government will ensure that the water points are within a radius of 400 meters. Am asking for support from all stakeholders in order for this dream to be realized,”he said
On his part, the Central Alego ward MCA Leonard Oriaro called on residents to safeguard the water points and report those destroying the water pipes to the relevant authorities.
The MCA also added that the water will be sold to locals at a subsidized rate to enable the County government raise a little revenue to help it maintain the water supply system.
