In an interesting turn of events, the agencies which served a Nairobi’s multi-million property, Seefar Apartment, with a 14-day demolition notice, are the same ones that approved its construction. The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Water Resources Authority Management (WRAM) approved the construction by Edermann Property on June 29, 2011,the project was complete later launched by the late Housing minister Soita Shitanda in 2013.

A Chinese national, only identified as Mr Yang, went on with the works and drove it to completion and subsequent occupancy. The buyers of the over 270 units in the three 12-storey apartments are now questioning the government’s intention arguing the construction was approved by the State. She however noted she was willing to vacate the apartment which has served as her home for the past five years if indeed it sits on riparian land. The occupant further states that the current map of Nairobi Dam reveals a straight line, possibly because of the changes which followed Seefar Apartments’ construction.
