CORONER SETS DATE Dolores O’Riordan’s inquest to be held on what would have been Cranberries singer’s 47th birthday next month

Dolores O’Riordan died January 16 this year

THE inquest into the death of Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan will take place on her birthday next month, a UK coroner has confirmed.
The Limerick singing icon, 46, passed away on January 15 of this year in a London hotel room. Dolores was in the city for a recording session at the time of her death.
An inquest into her death was to begin four days later, but was postponed until April 3 awaiting medical results.
The hearing was later removed from the schedule without explanation or new date set.
The inquest will now take place at Westminster Coroner’s Court on Thursday, September 6, Stephen Earl, Coroner’s Officer of Inner West London confirmed to the Irish Sun.
The date will fall on what would have been O’Riordan’s 47th birthday.

Last month, the rock idol’s mum, Eileen O’Riordan, revealed how the star was tortured by the trappings of international fame, which she said rested uneasy on the shoulders of the delicate Dolores.
She said: “It’s against nature, isn’t it?
“It can bring its own stresses and when you are very famous then you have no life. You make true sacrifices really.

“She could go nowhere. Anywhere she went she was recognised – anywhere in the world!”
And she hopes Dolores’ three children, her grandchildren won’t follow in her daughter’s footsteps, instead preferring to see them “keep things a bit simple”.
Eileen said that she spoke to her superstar daughter at 2am on the morning of January 15. Just seven hours later she got the call no parent ever wants to receive.
She added: “I was talking to her at two o’clock in the morning. We would be chatting all the time. I got a call around nine o’clock the same morning that something was wrong.
“It was a couple of hours before I knew what happened. It didn’t sink in.”
