Serbian International Nemanja Matic, who plies his trade with the English giants expressed gratitude to his fans after noting a picture of himself on one of the matatus.
The matatu that belongs to Dakika Sacco, operates on the Thika-Nairobi route.
The photo that went viral on social media showed the extent that football lovers in the country go to support their team and specific players.
The gesture from the player drew a lot of comments from his supporters with some requesting him to come visit the country.
Another called for his return to help the team turn their fortunes around, after last weekend’s defeat to Brighton&Hove Albion.
“Visit KenyaNemanjaa, we love you and the whole Manchester united,” one netizen appealed.
“Kenya we are proud of you, playing for Chelsea & Manchester United is the best option that you gave to your die-hard fans,” another noted.
Others called for the sack of the manager due to lack of signings that have costed the club.
“That’s my country. My homeland. Peaceful country and home of heroes. We love GGMU and we love you Nemanja…But Mourinho must go!” a supporter stated.
Matic, a former Chelsea player, has not played for the club since pre-season after he picked an injury that required him to undergo an abdominal surgery.
His return to training on Wednesday will be a major boost to his fans and the club as they play against Tottenham Hotspurs at Old Trafford this weekend.
The club will look to use the home advantage to return to winning ways after they started the season on a bright note where they won against Leicester at home courtesy of goals from Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw
