vSalaries for staff at Taita Taveta and Kisii counties set to be delayed following payment system breakdown.

Taita Taveta County Finance minister Vincent Masawi said the break down of the Integrated Financial Management System (Ifmis) has affected service delivery in several county departments.
“They are working on it but if the delay is not fixed then all payment processes on the platform will be affected,” Mr Masawi said.
The official said services have been paralysed in the procurement department, meaning the disruption will not only affect staff payments but also county contractors and suppliers.
In Kisii County, Ifmis broke down early July paralysing operations.
Kisii Finance minister, Mr John Momanyi, told the Nation the 2018/19 budget could not be uploaded into the system.
“This makes it impossible for us to apply for funds,” Mr Momany said.
Kisii County staff are now a worried lot since their July salaries may be delayed as a result.
“This may pose a financial challenge in my home given that our children are breaking for August holiday. How do you survive without money in this hard economic times?” wondered an employee in the Education department.
