A family in Tana Delta is in mourning after a Kenya Defence Forces vehicle hit and killed their son on Saturday at Idsowe area.
Tana Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Wycliffe Sifuna said the vehicle was headed back to a camp in Lamu from Idsowe market in Tana Delta when hit the 10-year-old who was crossing the road.
“There was a lorry parked by the road side where the child appeared from to join his kin who were cheering passing vehicles when the driver unfortunately knocked him down,” said Mr Sifuna.
He said the driver stopped the vehicle and with help from a local took the child to Garsen Health Centre where the doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.
The boy’s body has been taken to Malindi Sub County Hospital mortuary pending investigations
Last month, a motorist was run over by a KDF truck in Kilifi County, an incident that left residents in shock.
