A lorry driver was killed on Saturday morning following a head-on collision at the Pangani Interchange in Nairobi.
The driver of the lorry died on the spot. The bus driver survived with injuries on his legs as it was lodged in the dashboard following the impact.
It took the efforts of paramedics and firefighters to dislodge his foot from the dashboard before the two vehicles were removed from the scene.
The Pangani Interchange is a one-way stretch of road, and the bus had veered onto the wrong side of the road leading to the impact.
The bus, which belongs to Mash Auto, had just dropped off passengers from Mombasa at the Shell Petrol Station a few metres away, and was going to the parking yard, when the accident occurred.
It took the collaborative efforts of police, county ambulance workers, firefighters and the Red Cross to clear the scene and control traffic, even as crowds of onlookers stood nearby, watching and taking pictures.
