Bandits shoot police officer in Meru

 police officer is recuperating in hospital after being shot by bandits in Meru County on Sunday.
The officer, who is from Lowangila police post in Tigania West Sub-County, was shot in the head during the 3am attack by three bandits.
Isiolo Police Commander Charles Ontita said the policeman was on duty.
He was taken to Isiolo County Referral Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
“It is likely that the rustlers intended to steal nine cows that had been impounded and taken to the post during an operation to recover stolen stock,” Mr Ontita said.
The case is being investigated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations department from Tigania West.
