Homa Bay calm after Nyanza elections pushed

Calm has been restored in Homa Bay town following violent protests that led to the postponement of the repeat election from Saturday.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati announced on Friday the vote had been postponed in definitely in Homa Bay, Kisumu, Migori and Siaya.
In Cyrpian Awiti’s Homa Bay county on Saturday, business activities resumed and Seventh Day Adventists went to church.

Chebukati said they asked IG Joseph Boinnet to ensure enough security but residents declared they will not vote.
They took the streets, lighting bonfires, blocking roads and engaging police in running battles, to demonstrate their support for the Opposition.
This followed instructions by NASA candidate Raila Odinga who pulled out of the election over lack of reforms at the electoral agency.
The Opposition leader told his supporters there was no need to demonstrate and that he will give them direction.
But he reiterated that they should not go to polling stations.
